Life Stories of Women

The Life Stories of Women in Vojvodina project, led since its founding in 1998 by Prof. Emerita Svenka Savić, unites numerous collaborators from various national communities across Vojvodina with the aim of creating an archive of life stories (oral histories), biographies, and personal recollections of women living together in this multicultural region. The narratives collected offer a compelling insight into how women cultivate intercultural dialogue and embody cultural diversity in their everyday lives.

A key objective of the project is to offer young women from diverse ethnic backgrounds the opportunity to gain insights into the lives of previous generations. Through personal encounters and the documentation of older women’s memories, an intergenerational transfer of knowledge is facilitated, strengthening identity and fostering mutual understanding.

As part of the Life Stories of Women project, the association Women’s Studies and Research, in collaboration with the publisher Futura Publications, the Institute for Gender Equality, and The Institute for the Culture of Slovaks in Vojvodina, has published a series of works forming a distinctive collection of life stories, encompassing approximately 200 women’s personal narratives.
