Svetlana Slapšak, while studying women in ancient Greece and Rome, reminds us that feminisms existed even before feminism as a social movement, so „they have to be included in the general history of women, because they bring about unexpected, though older ideas and bear witness to the unexpected spaces of freedom.“
Feminist theology addresses questions that theology has always engaged with, but it directs attention to what women in churches today, as well as from both recent and more distant history, have to say about these topics.
S. Savić has published a total of three books in this field, primarily as outcomes of conferences organized by the WSR. Participants from the region and around the world exchanged their ideas and insights:
- Feminist Theology (1999) - the first book with this title in our country;
- Gender Perspective in Interreligious Dialogue in the 21st Century (2009) - in collaboration with Rebeka Anić;
- Contribution to Peacebuilding by Female Pastors of Protestant Churches in Vojvodina (2017) (supplemented by a poster featuring 13 interviewed pastors from Vojvodina.)
The elective course “Feminist Theology” is firmly established in the curriculum of Women’s Studies as well as in the Center for Gender Studies at the University of Novi Sad. Continuous collaboration exists with the Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization in Novi Sad on various projects.
