Educational program

Educational program

Teaching at the WSR began in the 2003/2004 academic year as a higher education program—initially a two-year program, later a one-semester program—offering an alternative and interdisciplinary curriculum. Instruction was delivered through mandatory lectures and elective activities, including workshops, panel discussions, and street activism campaigns. In total, more than 800 instructional units were conducted within the WSR educational program.

The two-year women’s studies (WS) program was organized around a variety of thematic cycles: Women and Media, Feminist Theology, Gender Theories, Feminist Approach to Literature, Language and Gender, Feminist Economy, Women Movements, Human Rights and Violence on Women, Women Health, Lesbian Existence, Non-violent Communication, Women in Politics, Women History (Life Stories)…

As a one-semester program, WS became more specialized, focusing on deepening a selected area of study for each cohort of participants (for example, Eco Feminism during the winter semester 2007/2008, or Interculturality and Spirituality during the summer semester 2008/2009.

The admission requirement for WS was a minimum of a secondary school education. During the program, participants were expected to actively engage in organized lectures and research projects. At the end of the course, they completed a final research paper on a specific topic under the guidance of a selected mentor.

Participants’ experiences indicate that the WS program deepened their knowledge, increased awareness of gender conditioning, deconstructed stereotypes, and fostered a comprehensive understanding of society, within which it is not always easy to map the position of an individual.
